On 10th October we gathered for our monthly lunch.
The menu was Salmon & Dill Fishcake served with Petit Salad & Lemon Mayonnaise, for main course we had Pan Seared Chicken Supreme, Rich Roast Gravy, Bacon Lardons, Mushrooms & Shallots followed by Homemade Fudge with Tea or Coffee, and was enjoyed by all.
The guest speaker this month was Mr Christian Caroe. Christian was a troop commander with 45 Royal Marine Commando and saw action during the Falklands War in 1982, Christian told us something of his experiences during that conflict which was very interesting.

PETER READ’S PERFORMANCES

Poems sometimes funny, Sometimes not. On Tuesday September 10th at 7.30PM
Peter Read is a poet, playwright, ghost writer, and creative writing tutor and mentor. He is a past winner of the John Tripp Award for the Best Performance Poet in Wales. His one man show about Dylan Thomas which he wrote and performs, has been staged throughout the UK and won five star reviews for two successive years at the Edinburgh Fringe. He has performed his work in New York and Ohio and his poems have been featured on ITV, BBC2 and BBC Radio Wales. He will; be giving two performances at Ebenezer Chapel Gallery.
POEMS SOMETIMES FUNNY SOMETIMES NOT will see him perform poems from his book Read Only and he will also read some of his new poems. Peter was described by the great poet Nigel Jenkins as ‘one of Wales’ most trenchant and entertaining performers of poetry. His poems have a freshness and energy, charm and wit.’ Peter’s book READ ONLY will be on sale at the end of the prerformance
On September 17, again at Ebenezer Gallery, he will be giving a Reading/ performance entitled WRITING THE ROUND BALL. This will include his readings from his Best Seller, FROM HOLLYWOOD TO WREXHAM plus excerpts from some of his football plays For this show he will be accompanied by well known actor Eric Jones who starred in Theatr Clwyd’s recent production of The Vicar Of Dibley
